Fastest Lap Award

Formula One global partner DHL announced Sebastian Vettel as the winner of its DHL fastest Lap Award at a special ceremony after the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix. Vettel won the award by a comfortable margin, for the six fastest laps from the 20 races of the season. The award was presented to Vettel by Jaokim Thrane of DHL Express Brazil and by former Formula One driver and television presenter Christian Danner.

Vettel has won this award for the second time, having won it previously in 2009 with three fastest laps. Kimi Raikkonen, Nico Rosberg and Jenson Button were the closest contenders with two fastest laps each, and there were eight other drivers with a single fastest lap.

One point is awarded for every fastest lap, and the driver to get maximum points wins the DHL Fastest Lap Award. The award was first given in 2007 and has been won twice by Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel, and once each by Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber.
